Rafa recently decided to play a golf tournament just one week before the US Open 2021. It was a hint that the Spaniard is not well and might withdraw from the Grand Slam anytime soon. Interestingly, he is the latest to end his season after Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem.

“I promise you that I will work hard to try to continue to enjoy this sport for some more time. Big hug to all!” wrote Rafa on Instagram after his recent announcement.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion injured his left foot during the French Open 2021. Even though he returned at the Citi Open 2021, he still had issues with his foot and later withdrew from the National Bank Open and the Cincinnati Masters 2021 as he was not able to recover in time.
