Roger Federer’s former coach, Ivan Ljubicic has heaped praise on the 22-year-old Italian for his remarkable run in the 2023 season. Sinner won 4 titles this year along with his maiden triumph in the ATP Masters 1000 and has proved his mettle against Top 10 opponents this year. Furthermore, adding to the Carota Boys’ (famous fanbase of Jannik Sinner) joy, the youngster led Italy to their first Davis Cup title after almost 47 years.

However, Ljubicic believes Sinner is not like Alcaraz, and here’s why he thinks so. ‘I immediately believed in his chances. Jannik is not like Alcaraz, who went from #40 to #1. He needs steps. I think what he has done in the last two months, the confirmation of hard work, has brought him closer to the goal. He needed certain experiences to feel comfortable on this path,‘ Ivan Ljubicic.

He further added, ‘At the end of 2022, I said that I regretted that Jannik had not played important matches against the biggest players. Now he has nothing more to learn. He started by winning his first Masters 1000, then he beat all the world #1’s. He reached the final in Turin & lost it because he was very tired after a difficult semi‐final against Medvedev. But when he left the court, his mind was already on the team & the Davis Cup.‘ (via Tuttosport)

Additionally, being a die-hard Real Madrid fan makes me more connected to my tennis idol-Rafael Nadal, who himself is a huge Los Blancos fan and a contender to become its next President.
