

The 2022 Davis Cup will begin its qualifier round in March 2022. Team USA has Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, and Sebastian Korda spearheading the campaign.
However, popular names like Reilly Opelka and John Isner are missing from the 2022 USA Davis Cup team. The tournament will begin the qualifiers starting March 4th this year.
Thus, team USA will embark on its campaign against Team Colombia at the Reno Events Center in Reno, United States.

USA Davis Cup team will take on Colombia in the Davis Cup qualifiers
World No. 20 Taylor Fritz will be spearheading the USA team at the Davis Cup this year. Moreover, Tommy Paul and Sebastian Korda, the World No. 42 and 43 respectively, will be joining the effort as well.
Former World No. 8 Jack Sock and doubles World No. 5 Rajeev Ram will also be on the team going against Colombia. Team Colombia and Team USA have met four times in the past, and have split their results up until now.

Thus, whoever wins their next bout in March will finally have a leg up on the other in their history. However, it was team Colombia which came out victorious in their last battle.
On the other hand, many fans have voiced out their wish to have been able to see World No. 24 Reilly Opelka in the team as well.
Moreover, former World No. 8 John Isner, too, is missing from the lineup.

Team USA’s history in the tournament
The United States has been the most successful team in the history of the Davis Cup. In fact, they have won the tournament a total of 32 times.

However, team USA has not won the Davis Cup since 2007. Thus, it’s been 15 years since the Unites States won the ‘world cup of tennis’. In 2021 last year, Team Colombia knocked out Team USA in the Finals.

USA was in Group E with Italy and Colombia. Even though both Opelka and Isner lost their single matches, the duo of Rajeev Ram and Jack Sock won the doubles tie, but ultimately Italy won the tie.9

With Colombia, Frances Tiafoe won his singles match against Nicolas Mejia, but Isner lost his singles match. Moreover, the pairing of Opelka and Sock lost the doubles tie. Consequently, USA was out of the running for the Davis Cup.
