However, during the high-voltage clash, a moment of pure joy came out of nowhere.

At the Australian Open, John McEnroe brought a dose of humor when he couldn’t figure out why Alex De Minaur is nicknamed ‘Demon.’ While being live on air, McEnroe jokingly guessed, “Why is his nickname Demon? Obviously because of his speed?”

Then, Todd Woodbridge came ahead and explained why Alex de Minaur got this nickname. He said that his second name is De and then comes Min, which together sounds like demon. “Well, his name is ‘De … Min…'” said Woodbridge while clearing things up.

McEnroe, not catching the play on words, needed Woodbridge to clear up the confusion. Thus, this unusual incident showcased a funny side of John McEnroe who couldn’t seem to understand the main reason behind the Aussie being named Demon.

While coming into the tournament as a hot favorite, Alex de Minaur showed no signs of mercy as he cruised past his opponent to make his way into the next round.

With the crowd backing the local boy, he made sure that he left no stone unturned and easily made his way into the fourth round of the tournament. In the third round, he faced the Italian Flavio Cobolli who was coming into the tournament with a fine run.
