John McEnroe, Patrick Mouratoglou and Others React After Rafael Nadal Reaches His 6th Australian Open Final

Today, 20-time Grand Slam winner, Rafael Nadal, is finally through to the Australian Open 2022 final. The Spaniard beat Matteo Berrettini in four sets to get closer to achieving his 21st Grand Slam title. 

Before the start of the tournament, the former world no.1 wasn’t even sure about competing in the Australian Open. And now, after reaching the final of the tournament, he looks absolutely delighted. People on social media are also congratulating and praising Nadal for reaching his 6th Australian Open final.

Many thought the semi-final match between Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini will go on for much longer than it actually did. However, Nadal shows his tremendous class against the Italian to win the match in 2 hours and 55 minutes; the final result was 6-3,6-2,3-6,6-3. Matteo gave a good fight, but the Italian was no match for the Spaniard. 

After the foot injury in 2021, this final will definitely please Rafa and his fans. Nadal looked really emotional after the match as he was packing his bags. Those were probably the tears of joy, as he reached the final after suffering a lot through injury. Many famous tennis stars and coaches are reacting to Nadal’s success at the Australian Open.

American tennis legend, John McEnroe, said, “Nadal’s two best sets since the 2020 Roland Garros final.”

Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou applauded Nadal’s game plan against Berrettini, as he said, “Rafa is now playing only his service games fully and the first two points of Matteo’s. Managing his energy level.”

Many other stars also reacted after Nadal’s win.

Can Rafa achieve his 21st Grand Slam title in Australia?

After beating Berrettini, Nadal will now focus on the final where he will face either Daniil Medvedev or Stefanos Tsitsipas. It’s an advantage to play the first semi-final, as he can now watch the other semi-final and analyze it.

Meanwhile, Nadal now reached in 9 Grand Slam finals after turning 30 in this open era. Only Novak Djokovic has reached more Grand Slam finals than Rafa. 

The main question still remains: can Rafa win it all in Australia? The answer is yes. However, the battle won’t be easy, but not impossible for Rafa. We have to wait and see who lifts the trophy on Sunday.
