The event where the big four of tennis play as a team is at the doorstep. After watching them compete against each other throughout the year, fans will get to sit together and root for them in unison at Laver Cup. The Brit Andy Murray, the Swiss Roger Federer, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, and the Serb Novak Djokovic will lead team Europe in the coming tournament.

The Event will commence after the completion of the last Grand Slam of the year. Hence, as soon as their personal endeavor in the US Open ends, the tennis legends of this generation will gear up to defend Europe’s trophy.

The fifth edition of Laver Cup

The fight for the Laver Cup between Team Europe and the Team world will take place on the indoor hard courts of the O2 arena in London. The tournament following three-day combat will name its winner on 25th September. Further, with the big four in Team Europe’s camp, Team World might face a rough time.

However, according to Juan Martín del Potro, he could have been a potential threat to the big four’s team if he were still in the game. As he wrote, “you are lucky that I don’t play.”

The Argentine tennis professional after injury-filled two and a half years, made up his mind to hang his racket. The former US Open champion said goodbye to professional tennis after showcasing his skills for one last time in the Argentina Open.

Speaking of the US Open, his 2009 victory was marvelous. As Potro defeated Rafael Nadal in the semifinals and five times the defending champion Roger Federer in the finals to win the trophy.

What is the big four’s current situation?

Starting with Rafael Nadal. The 22 times Grand Slam champion while playing in the Wimbledon Championships incurred a gruesome abdominal injury. Though recently he enrolled for the ATP 1000 event in Canada and was spotted practicing in the hard court of Mallorca.

Speaking of Roger Federer and Andy Murray. Murray has struggled with his form throughout this season. Whereas Federer will make a comeback in the Swiss Open after opting out of all the Grand Slams.
