The 2022 tennis season is about to mark its end and has reached its final events. Currently, the 110th edition of the Davis Cup is in the run. However, something unexpected happened during a recent match. Something that did not involve the sport or the players.

A pair of protesters stormed the court and created a ruckus. They tied themselves to the net, causing an unexpected halt. Here’s a clip of the incident.
The Davis Cup mayhem
After the Croatian tennis professional and former World no.12, Borna Coric took down Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in Malaga, the tournament descended into chaos. The protestors, one male and one female, entered the playing area and tried to create a scene.

As a response to the infiltration, five security guards rushed to the court. They first detained the lady, who was trying to maintain a grip on the net. Thereafter, they uprooted the man as well while the crowd booed in unison. As of now, the reason behind their protest remains a mystery.

Coming back to the Davis Cup. Coric got the better of Agut in straight sets of 6-4 and 7-6. Following that, Marin Cilic and Pablo Carreno Busta were scheduled to lock horns. Although the match got delayed a bit, it resumed later and Cilic successfully guided Croatia to the semifinals. He defeated Busta in sets of 5-7 6-3 7-6 (5) and secured a 2-0 lead over Spain.

Another protest that took place this year
The Laver Cup, this season, was historic. The big four Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray played together under the banner of Team Europe for the first and last time.

Thus, taking advantage of the hype, a man raided the court when Stefanos Tsitsipas was battling against Diego Schwartzman. With his arm on fire, he donned a t-shirt saying ‘End UK Private Jets’. Security got rid of the fire and they dragged the man out and the game resumed.
