How many of you knew Kamil Majchrzak before the 2025 US Open? Not many, perhaps! Currently ranked 76th in the world, this 29-year-old Polish tennis player has now become the talk of the town, and guess what? It’s not just because he recently defeated the world number 9, Karen Khachanov, in an epic five-setter in the second round of the 2025 US Open, but for something else as well. Majchrzak has managed to win hearts with both tennis and off-court gestures.
If we take a look at the profile of this tennis player, he has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world number 75, achieved on 28 February 2022. His best record at the Slams came this season (Wimbledon – R4). Kamil Majchrzak is currently Poland’s number 2. With his recent win over Khachanov, he secured his first win over a seeded player at the US Open, and in fact, this was also his biggest win of his career. Following this incredible triumph, he was spotted interacting with some of the fans at Flushing Meadows. He signed balls and towels for the fans and later on, even took off his cap to give it to a young boy in the crowd…But everyone was stunned seeing a man standing next to the little boy snatching away the cap that Majchrzak gave to him. The man took the cap and put it straight into a bag that a woman next to him was holding. This bizarre moment went viral within a few seconds, with several netizens taking a jibe at that man.
Unaware of this incident, Kamil Majchrzak later on shared a post on his IG account saying, “After the match, I didn’t record that my cap didn’t get to the boy. Thanks to @asicstennis, I’ve got enough caps, so I’m prepared for that… Hey guys, could you help me find the kid from my match. If it’s you (or your parents see this, please send me a DM.” Following that, he later on yet again came up with an update saying that he had traced the young fan. Amid all the buzz surrounding this off-court moment, unfortunately, Kamil Majchrzak’s US Open campaign came to an end due to an injury. He was forced to retire from his third-round match against Leandro Riedl.

Talking about his injury, Majchrzak recently shared an update on his IG stories saying, “I have a torn intercostal muscle and I was forced to retire today. Playing at the US Open requires the best from us-tennis players- and today I just haven’t been able to compete. I tried, but the pain was too big.” Having said that, he also thanked the fans for their continuous support and kind messages.

Tough luck for Kamil Majchrzak; he was looking quite impressive in this tournament. This third-round match came to an end when the score was 5-3 in favor of Riedl in the first set. So far, Kamil Majchrzak has played 21 matches in this season, and he has won 12 matches out of them. Hopefully, he will recover from this injury pretty soon and yet again make a strong comeback. Nevertheless, Majchrzak will leave NY winning a lot of hearts, that’s for sure.

Seeing the memento being snatched away by a man, the little boy yelled at him, saying, “What are you doing?” But the man literally ignored all of that. The child kept on pleading with the couple to give him the hat back, but they nervously laughed before the man handed him a pen. Several fans labeled this incident as quite disgusting.
Even former WTA pro Eugenie Bouchard reacted to this incident. She shared that viral video on her X handle with the caption, “Jail.” Following this incident, everyone was curious to know about the culprit, and now, as per the latest updates, the man has been identified as a Polish CEO.
