Boris Becker, who amassed a whopping 49 ATP singles titles, is regarded as one of the greatest tennis players on the men’s tour. The former tennis ace’s illustrious legacy on the court has further earned him an induction into the Hall of Fame. Even after bidding adieu to the racket sport, the German tennis legend has still managed to remain in the spotlight in the sporting community, although as a coach. Clearly, he’s never been one to shy away from unfamiliar territory and new beginnings.

The 6-time singles Grand Slam champion has now taken up coaching duties for the Danish tennis star, Holger Rune. While candidly talking about embarking on ‘new beginnings,’ the 55-year-old recently opened up about why a boring life has never been a part of his plans.

Boris Becker gets real about his ‘new beginnings’ as a coach

Given his coaching stint for Holger Rune, the former tennis ace was recently asked if he likes to embrace ‘new beginnings’. In an interview with the L’equipe, Boris Becker candidly opened up about how he has been through a number of ups and downs in his journey.

He said, “I’ve had a pretty interesting and exciting life, full of experiences, both good and bad. But I am a very open person on the subject. The last thing I need is to have a boring life. I’m not cut out for that. I have always been very involved in the world of tennis.” The Hall of Famer went on to say how he has been enjoying his new role in the tennis realm, as it is something that he really loves to do. Becker added, “There, I will combine my work as a consultant and that of a coach. It’s something I love and am good at.”

Another ATP player is under the tutelage of Becker

The 55-year-old was recently spotted at the Swiss Indoors, where he accompanied Holger Rune as his new coach. After teaming up with the ATP legend, the Dane performed brilliantly at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel as he secured a semifinal finish in the hard-court event. Even at the Paris Masters, Becker was there in Rune’s box and guided the 20-year-old to reach the quarterfinal round. The German former world No. 1 player has further accompanied Rune during the Nitto ATP Finals, which is now underway with some exciting group stage fixtures.
