Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer Confirm Massive News for Laver Cup in London

The opening Grand Slam of the season has ended with fanfare. The Australian Open 2022 has set the tone for the coming tournaments. The fans witnessed some thrilling action at Melbourne Park. Moreover, history was created on the final day of the ‘Happy Slam’ as Rafael Nadal became the first man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. The Spaniard defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in a come-from-behind victory to etch his name in the history books. Further, on the women’s side, local favorite Ashleigh Barty continued her consistent run as she defeated  Danielle Collins of the USA in straight sets to lift her first Australian Open title.

The tennis fraternity lauded Nadal’s grit and determination to overcome a two-set deficit. Social media was buzzing with praises for the Spanish legend. Additionally, his victory at the Australian Open has set a roadmap for the rest of the season. Recently, the 35-year-old confirmed his participation in a prestigious tournament.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to play at the Laver Cup 2022

The two tennis legends confirmed their participation at the Laver Cup 2022. Further, the fifth edition of the Laver Cup will be held at The O2 in London from September 23-25, 2022.

The Laver Cup is a hard-court men’s tournament between two teams consisting of Team Europe and Team World. It is held annually since 2017. However, it was postponed in 2020 due to Covid-19. The tournament is named after Rod Laver, one of the greatest players in the history of tennis.
