A golden opportunity for Feliciano Lopez

Lopez, if successfully qualifies, will play his 81st Grand Slam on the greens of London. Hence, bringing his total Grand Slam appearance to a tie with the 20 times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer. And sharing the record of maximum participation in the main draws of Grand Slam with the Swiss legend.

In addition, Federer cannot further his numbers. As he is to miss the coming Wimbledon championship as well as the US Open owing to the time required for recovery of his knee injury. Therefore, if the Spaniard fails to qualify for the Wimbledon championship, he will still have a chance to even the scores by playing in the main draws of the US Open.
