‘Like a Kid in a Candy Shop’: Roger Federer Reveals His Favorite Years on the Tour

Throughout time, Roger Federer has played across generations. The former world number one has played against tennis legends like Agassi and Pete Sampras, but has also competed with the new generation coming into sports.

However, Federer’s popularity was mostly unaffected by his top generation tennis giants like Rafael Nadal and Navok Djokovic. The swiss maestro was the best tennis player around the globe during his mid tennis years. At that time, he won 11 out of 16 grand slams tournaments he participated in. With his dominating games from the initial days, he has definitely dominated decades of men’s tennis.

Roger Federer talks about his best years on court

As a young tennis player, the former world number one also shared a dream to play with his idols. Recently, as Federer announced his retirement, the 20 time grand slam champion talked about his favorite years in tennis and detailed about being part of great tennis legends over the years with the evolution of tennis.

He said, “I guess, I was also little bit a bridge between the older generation and this generation we see, new generation even coming up Ruud and Alcaraz and everybody. I am proud of the fact that I was able to play for this long. I do miss the other generation of Sampras and Agassi and obviously the Roddick, Ferrero Alcaraz’s coach. Now those were almost my favorite years. But those beginning years were just insane being able to sharing my locker room with my heroes and idols. I was like a kid in the candy shop.”
