However, more than disappointment, it brought a surprising revelation from the Australian tennis star. Kyrgios commented in a recent podcast about how that match truly showed what a great performer Djokovic is.

He emphasized, “For me, it was like, I wasn’t supposed to be there. You know, I grew up in Canberra. And you know, I never fell in love with tennis early on and I was walking down the hallway to the center court. I see the royal family and I got Novak Djokovic behind me and I’m just like laughing internally, I’m like, This is not supposed to be and I walked out on the court and yeah, it was like a snowman in the desert.”

Nick Kyrgios’s comment explained how he felt totally unmatched against a stalwart like Djokovic early when he walked towards the court. He added, “That’s how I felt I wasn’t supposed to be there but I enjoyed every minute of it. I felt at home. And yeah, gave one of the greatest of all time a run for their money and something to be proud about.”

Kyrgios revealed his solution to his mental health issues

Nick Kyrgios previously spoke about the mental health issues he faced in 2022. From his self-harm tendencies to alcohol abuse, he spoke about everything in detail. Kyrgios also mentioned how this mental health issue impacted his relationship with his family. However, this Australian tennis player revealed how he found his solution to this issue.

In Kyrgios’s words, “Well, I was winning more often than losing. But I guess I just bought into having a better mentality and, you know, understanding that tennis is so up and down. You know, being on the tour for the whole year was incredibly hard. And I just knew I had to manage my emotions better. And that’s, that’s what I did.”
