The much-anticipated ensemble has sparked disappointment among tennis enthusiasts, who took to social media to express their discontent.

Alcaraz is set to make a bold statement at the 2024 US Open with his signature sleeveless Nike design. The bold jersey, fittingly called the “Nike Men’s Slam Top Alcaraz,” will be on sale so that fans can adopt the bold look of the rising star. Alcaraz will be wearing his new custom Nike shoes, which fans can purchase in retail stores as the Nike Vapor 11, in addition to the eye-catching top.

Alcaraz donned the same attire at the US Open the previous year when he advanced all the way to the semifinals before losing to Daniil Medvedev. It is designed along the same lines as the top he wore at the Australian Open in 2024.

Many fans feel that Alcaraz’s 2024 US Open kit falls short of their expectations, and they have voiced their discontent about this. Despite its design, not everyone has found the outfit appealing; several fans expressed their dissatisfaction on social media.

While the outfit might not have won over the fans, for Carlos Alcaraz, the sleeveless look holds a deeper significance.

In his post-match press conference during last year’s US Open, when he wore a similar kind of outside outfit, Alcaraz revealed that his attire was inspired by none other than Rafael Nadal. Reflecting on his decision, Alcaraz shared that he had Nadal in mind when choosing the sleeveless style, a nod to theKing of Clay’siconic look. He stated,Honestly when I wear the sleeves, I was thinking about Rafa when he wears that. He won that US Open, right? I love to wear that sometimes in some specific tournaments.”

However, the thoughts remain the same with the recent one, as another fan wrote, awful. On the other hand, even Alcaraz’s outfit at the 2024 Cincinnati Open failed to win over tennis fans. Many have expressed disappointment, lamenting what they see as a decline in the brand’s design quality, as the recent one started making waves.

Subsequently, another one wrote, Cringe, expressing their dismay. During his opening-round encounter earlier this year at the French Open, the 21-year-old Carlos Alcaraz wore a dark blue T-shirt created by Nike together with yellow shorts. However, many fans were not impressed with the color combination.

Due to the unusual combination of bright and dark colors, some fans mistook Alcaraz’s attire for his warm-up gear instead of his match outfit, which caused confusion. But now, for the US Open, even though the outfit is back, fans are not happy with it and wrote, Yuck. Just yuck.” 

Alcaraz’s $200 million deal with Nike has certainly put a spotlight on his fashion choices, making each outfit a focal point of scrutiny. Given the magnitude of the endorsement, there are high expectations for both the design and impact of his on-court apparel. Lastly, the overall sentiment is one of disappointment, with some fans even going as far as to say that the kit looks sad.”
