‘Love to Play With Federer’ – Andy Murray Reveals Long-Time Wish

There have been many notable rivalries in tennis over the last two decades. From Serena Williams vs Venus Williams to Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal, tennis fans have been treated to some eye-catching battles. Amongst them was the on-court rivalry between Federer and Andy Murray.
Although fierce competitors on the court, the two had the utmost respect for each other on and off the court. The matches between them have often been keenly contested. In the 25 matches between them, Federer leads Murray by winning in 14 of those encounters. Recently, the British star revealed his long-time wish.

Andy Murray hopes to play doubles with Roger Federer
During an interview with footballer Ben Foster, Murray was asked, “If you could pick any doubles partner from any era, who would you pick and why?” Subsequently, Murray replied, “I’d probably love to play with Federer.”

Murray and Federer competed in a number of memorable encounters. During the Wimbledon Championships in 2012, the two contested in the summit clash. On that occasion, Federer came out on top in four sets.

Later that year, Murray avenged his defeat against the Swiss maestro at the London Olympics. However, the latest encounter between them was way back in 2015.
Murray talks about Federer’s comeback
The three-time Grand Slam champion believed Federer will get back to competing after his lengthy injury layoff. Talking on this subject, he said, “I would love to see Roger back playing again. I don’t know his situation, but I believe he will get back to competing. I don’t know how long for, but I really hope we can play another tournament together. It’s been a long time.”

While Federer has been sidelined from the tennis circuit due to a knee injury, Murray is back on the court after overcoming his injury problems. He is currently playing at the Boss Open in Stuttgart. Murray has reached the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event and will next face Stefanos Tsitsipas.
