Jannik Sinner, in scintillating form, has already clinched three titles so far this season. Even in Madrid, he has successfully continued his winning run by winning his first two matches in the tournament. After defeating Russia’s Pavel Kotov by 6-2,7-5 in the R32 of the Mutua Madrid Open, Sinner is now going to face another Russian, Karen Khachanov at the Arantxa Sanchez Stadium in just a few hours from now. But before that, he gave some concerning updates about his injuries. Are Jannik Sinner’s Madrid Open hopes in doubt for the moment?

Renowned tennis journalist and commentator, Jose Morgado recently gave an update surrounding Sinner’s further participation in the tournament. He tweeted, “Sinner a bit concerned with his hip. Doesn’t confirm he will play tomorrow, says he will decide what’s best. But in good mood. It’s not a new pain/injury. Says it was related to some extra work at the gym last week.” Jannik Sinner has been quite dominating in his previous two games. He has in fact reached the last 16 of the Madrid Open for the first time in his career.

Previously, Sinner reached the third round of this tournament in 2022. This year he has already made it to the SF of the Monte Carlo Masters. Surelyhe wouldn’t want to miss out on another chance to have yet another successful run on clay under his belt before the French Open. He battled through his existing hip injury to clinch the two-set winner against Kotov. He was seen stretching his several times during the match. Jannik Sinner has a great chance of closing the gap with Novak Djokovic at the PIF ATP Rankings if he manages to win a title in Madrid.

It will be interesting to see whether Jannik Sinner can get fully fit ahead of his match against Khachanov. This will be their fourth meeting on the tour. Currently, the 22-year-old Italian tennis star leads the H2H with a 3-1 margin. Karen Khachanov has also won a title this year in Qatar. Surely this is going to be an intriguing contest to watch. But what does Jannik Sinner have to say about his injury?

“I have been struggling a little bit” – Jannik Sinner shares his concerns with his right hip

Jannik Sinner is eyeing to build a winning momentum on clay ahead of the French Open. But these injury concerns can disrupt his ambitions of winning his maiden title at the French Open. He even has a chance to take over Novak Djokovic at the top of the ATP Rankings in front of his home fans in Italy.

But how fit is he to make this a successful campaign on the dirt? During his on-court interview, Sinner said, “I have been struggling a little bit with my right hip. We’re trying to find a solution and I don’t think it’s anything serious.

He further went on to add, “Sometimes I feel it more like today and some days are a little bit better. I have a good team behind me and we’ll try to get my body going for tomorrow and we’ll decide tomorrow what’s best for me and what’s best for the body.” But he ensured that his match against Khachanov will be a tough one and he’s looking forward to it.

So Jannik Sinner fans are now keeping their fingers crossed! Can Jannik Sinner win a title on clay this year?
