Rafael Nadal is here to stay and conquer what he left behind a year ago. While the last few months were particularly not good for him, things are coming full circle, as the Spaniard has made it to the 4th round of the Madrid Open. Looking into the way he is diving into the tournament, Boris Becker reacted to his match against Pedro Cachín.

Shortly after Nadal’s victory, Novak Djokovic‘s ex-coach acknowledged the Spaniard’s tenacity and brilliance on the court in a tweet. The former German legend tweeted, “Vamos Rafa,”(let’s go) expressing his respect for Nadal’s valiant five-set triumph over Pedro Cachin. As a fellow tennis legend, Becker is aware of the mental and physical toughness needed to win difficult matches, especially when facing tough opponents like Cachin.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion showed tenacity and skill in the face of fierce opposition from Pedro Cachin, who won his only tour-level victory on clay at Gstaad the year before. Nadal lost the second set, but in the pivotal third set, he used more power and accuracy in his forehand strokes.

Throughout the fight, he was very strong physically scoring a well-deserved victory following a three-hour and four-minute grueling battle. Rafa, after the victory, stated, “Some moments were good, some moments not good, but I found a way to go through. In the third set, even with some mistakes, I was able to be a little more unpredictable and that probably changed the match.”

Moreover, when asked about his fitness, Nadal highlighted how he is focusing on every day and enjoying his time at home. Subsequently, the Spaniard is still the dominant player on clay courts in Madrid, with an amazing tournament record of 59 wins and 14 losses.

On the other hand, the 37-year-old tennis legend will next take on Jiri Lehecka in an attempt to make it to his tenth consecutive quarterfinal at the Madrid Open. However, this is not the first time the world’s number-one ranked player’s ex-coach appreciated the Spaniard’s run at the Madrid Open.

The 56-year-old former tennis player responded with an exuberant fist pump to the Spaniard’s emotional outburst during the second-round triumph, where he defeated Alex Di Minuar. The triumph was reportedly the first time he has apparently gained consecutive victories at a Masters 1000 event since the 2022 Madrid Open.

Looking into that, the German tennis legend took to his account to share a video of Nadal’s celebration following the victory and highlighted his emotions as fire, within him, “Rafa’s fire 🔥.” He could be seen in the video pumping his fist as he made his way through the changing rooms, celebrating his victory. It wouldn’t be incorrect to state that Becker, like other Nadal supporters, wants to see him perform better on the tennis court.
