The tennis world knows John McEnroe for his seven grand slam titles and hot-headedness on the court. His on-court debacles and aggressive gameplay have become infamous amongst tennis enthusiasts. Subsequently, the player earned the nickname ‘SuperBrat’ for his on-court antics.

On a humorous note, McEnroe once provided instructions to break a tennis racquet appropriately during a match.

John McEnroe shared tips to break a tennis racquet

The American player had talked about the right way of breaking a racquet in a unique interview that was aimed at frustrating people by asking hilarious questions. In the interview, he was asked about the perfect way to break a racquet. The legendary American, in his own unique and hilarious way, started with a safety list first. He said, “You don’t want to throw it at anyone because that would be very risky.” Furthermore, he described a location. He said, “You’ve got to keep it in the area where you only make an a** out of yourself….”

McEnroe shared some more tips and said, “There’s a way to do it so you can get your point across without breaking it.” He stated, “You’ve got to throw it face first, not at an angle.”

The player shared an anecdote too. He stated, “I tried to tell Mike Piazza that when we did a commercial last week, but he didn’t listen and broke about six rackets.

John McEnroe set the bar for being aggressive on the court. Furthermore, he also feels that tennis is a game that should bring out raw emotions in players. He also emphasized the importance of rivalries and that they carry the best method to improve oneself as a player.

Currently, we have the Australian Nick Kyrgios who has taken the mantle from McEnroe, especially when it comes to on-court tussle with chair umpires as well as his opponents and fans. The player has been fined on quite a few occasions because of his actions.
