Novak Djokovic stacked a heap of titles and dominated almost every event he took part in, last season. But this year, he couldn’t touch the courts of many high-profile tournaments. Further, adding to his misery got banned from the Australian Open as well. Djokovic, after initiating a legal battle against the tournament, because of its strict vaccination rule, lost his chance to defend the title.

Following that, he sat out of the majority of hard court tournaments due to the same. However, it didn’t end there. Now the 21 times Grand Slam champion’s unvaccinated self is all set to cost him participation in the US Open. Though a lot of tennis fans are trying to turn the tide in the favor of the Serb.
In favor of Novak Djokovic
Over 12,000 people have signed an online petition calling for the American government and USTA to amend its rule regarding vaccination. Currently, as per the immigration rules, Djokovic cannot enter the nation without a complete vaccination status. To counter this, the petition says, “There is absolutely no reason at this stage of the pandemic to not allow Djokovic to play at the US Open 2022.”

Thereafter it demands, “US Government and USTA must work together to allow him to play. If unvaccinated American players can play, Djokovic as one of the legends of the game must be allowed to play. MAKE IT HAPPEN, USTA!”

The three times US Open champion made up to the finals of the Grand Slam last year. He, after bagging the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon, stepped on the hard courts of America with a will to complete a Calendar Grand Slam. Though the Russian tennis star and current World No.1 Daniil Medvedev shattered his dreams.
A ray of hope for Djokovic fans
The former World no.1 has earned Anthony Albanese’s favor. The new Australian Prime Minister recently shared his will to discuss Djokovic‘s case with the Tennis Australia.
