Nick Kyrgios, who is away from the tennis courts owing to his injury woes, recently opened up about how he is ‘contemplating retirement.’ While announcing his unavailability for the Paris Olympics, the Australian tennis star asserted that there is a ‘part of him’ that knows his journey on the competitive tour may be over. However, just after issuing those candid statements, the ATP player has now brushed aside his own ‘retirement’ column, drawing the attention of many fans.

Now that he is not playing tennis, Kyrgios has taken up the role of commentator and analyst for the Australian Open. After a lengthy hiatus and his retirement rumors, the Aussie recently revealed that he is planning a comeback as “there is plenty left in the tank.”

Fans react to Nick Kyrgios brushing aside his own ‘retirement’ claims

In a conversation with The Sydney Morning Herald, Kyrgios stated, “There is a part of me that knows my time in the sport may be over. And I’m OK with that.” Just after issuing these statements, the Aussie has now changed his stance on retirement on the same day. In a video clip on social media, the 2022 Wimbledon finalist cleared up that some articles going around about him retiring are “absolute non sense.”

He also said, “I’m hungry as ever. Constantly rehabing in the gym. (…) I’m coming back. Stay tuned. There is plenty left in the tank.” Good news for the sport, I guess!”  Kyrgios calling his own column ‘nonsense’ has not gone over well with a flurry of fans on social media. Reacting to the news shared by the renowned tennis journalist José Morgado on Twitter, one fan said, “make your mind up bro”
