The Serbian tennis star has not just won the title at Tel Aviv, but he has also won the hearts of tennis enthusiasts. Novak Djokovic tried his hand yet again at the wheelchair tennis. The player, who has made a name for himself because of his astounding gameplay on the court, gave another try at it. It was undoubtedly difficult for him to make a proper shot.

But this act of his has brought a lot of praise towards his way. Djokovic won his third title on the third surface in 2022, becoming the first man to do so this year.

Tennis enthusiasts hail Novak Djokovic for bringing attention to wheelchair tennis

The Serbian tennis star clinched victory at Tel Aviv on the hard court. However, he did not just end his journey there. He went and played wheelchair tennis with Elay Chayot, a wheelchair tennis player.

The video showed Djokovic playing and trying to make shots. One could see in the video how difficult this variant of tennis is.

It stated, “When Novak Djokovic is trying wheelchair tennis.”

A fan commented when somebody questioned Djokovic,Why wouldn’t it be? He’s done it before, his colleagues invited him to hit some balls and he tried.. He wasn’t as good as them, as we can see on the video; wheelchair tennis is so hard, players of Novak’s stature should always promote and share about it.”

Elay Chayot, the wheelchair tennis player who played with Djokovic, also commended him. He tweeted, “It was such a great time for me to spend with Novak! Thanks for sharing.”

Journalist Ben Rothenberg also hailed Djokovic for bringing a spotlight to wheelchair tennis. He tweeted, “Djokovic has played wheelchair tennis a few times now, which is always very cool to see from one of the sport’s able-bodied champions.”

This has brought a good name to the sport as he is bringing limelight to the lesser-known version of the sport.

Even his non-supporters are having a time not liking him

Djokovic has a lot of fans but that means he also has a lot of non-supporters too. But after watching him play wheelchair tennis and bringing importance to it, they also couldn’t stop themselves from praising the athlete.

One tennis enthusiast tweeted, “Djokovic, and his cult followers, really grinds my gears most of the time, but this is brilliant to see.”

Another one also expressed their views on not being able to dislike him after this. It tweeted, “With every passing day, Djokovic is making it tougher and tougher for me to continue disliking him.” 

Furthermore, a fan tweeted, “Appreciate the visibility, Nole. Harder than it looks, wheelies.”

And one fan joked and commented, “Did he finally take the shot?” Tennis was predominantly an able-bodied male sport. But with time, tennis has broken gender barriers and is now the torchbearer of a successful women’s sport. Djokovic is now bringing more egalitarianism to the sport by promoting wheelchair tennis too.
