But obviously, there are some amazing memories you know on the court and off the court also. On the court, obviously winning in Shanghai last year and then playing against Roger at Wimbledon.“

Recalling that moment with the Swiss Maestro, he added, “That was something really special and so that’s one of the best memories on the court.” Hubert Hurkacz is a big fan of Roger Federer. He once admitted that he has always loved watching the Swiss legend play since he was a kid.

“He is such an incredible player and person. If I could borrow something from his game, it would definitely be the way he was committed to his shots, to his plan and to his ideas. That was something really incredible,” Hurkacz said.

But did you know Hubert Hurkacz had once unintentionally ignored the Swiss Maestro during a match last year? It was just after his second Masters win in Shanghai, and Roger Federer was among the attendees in the crowd at the final.

‘Hopefully, he won’t take it personally’ – Hurkacz on snubbing Federer during his victory speech in Shanghai

After the match, during the post-match interview, Hubert Hurkacz forgot to thank Roger Federer for attending the match. Hurkacz said afterward, “You know, the tournament, there’s so many champions who won it in the past and so many amazing players. And in my speech, I was, like, trying to thank everyone. I forgot to mention Roger, thanks for coming, so, yeah, sorry for that.“

He further added, “Hopefully, he won’t take it personally (smiling). But definitely, you know, fun to play in front of him. Hopefully, he enjoyed a little bit and, yeah, just so excited.”
