Matteo Berrettini Expects a Spectacular Comeback from Roger Federer After Australian Open 2021 Withdrawal

All the tennis fans and legends were desperately waiting for the Australian Open 2021 to witness the return of Roger Federer. The stakes were high since he was expected to return to the court after a year. However, Federer couldn’t recover from knee surgery on time, and this forced him to withdraw from the Grand Slam.
Now the question is, when will fans get to see the Swiss Maestro again? He last played a professional tennis match at the Australian Open 2020 against Novak Djokovic. After that, Federer suffered an unfortunate knee injury which ruled him out of play for the entire 2020 season.
Recently, World No. 10 Matteo Berrettini spoke about when he thinks Federer will return.

“I know he’s training, I think as soon as possible. And he has shown many times that when he comes back it is as if he had never stopped,” said Berrettini in a recent interview.
Although Berrettini didn’t reveal the exact date of Federer’s return, he highlighted that it would happen soon. He also talked about Federer’s ability to never give up and believed that he would make an incredible comeback despite all the odds.
There have been a lot of speculations about the comeback of Federer. There were doubts about whether he would even play after the Australian Open 2021 or not. However, his biographer Simon Graf presented some good news and tweeted that the Swiss Maestro would surely play at the Dubai Tennis Championships 2021 in March.

Fans are quite aware of Berrettini’s love for basketball. He not only follows the sport but likes to play it too whenever he gets time. In the same interview, Berrettini compared Federer to the great Michael Jordan.
“Federer, I would compare him to Michael Jordan,” said the Italian player.

There is not even an iota of doubt that Federer’s legacy in tennis is almost the same as Jordan’s legacy in basketball. Both are quite outstanding on and off the court and are true ambassadors of their respective sports.
