Novak Djokovic finds a hidden spot in Melbourne to meet his ‘old friend’

In his post-match conference, Novak Djokovic was asked about how between his matches he likes to go to Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and spend time near a special tree that he adores. To which he responds that it is true that he has developed a special relationship with the tree.

Djokovic added, “There’s one particular tree that I’ve been having a special relationship with for the last 15 years. That particular tree, I cannot reveal which one, I’ll keep it discreet for myself when I’m there to have my own time. I like to ground myself and connect with that old friend. I got connected with that tree. I liked its roots and the trunks and branches. So I started climbing it years ago. I just have a connection.”

The way that the Serb has found his peace with a tree and developed a relationship with it shows he is a man of nature. But spending time in nature is not the only thing that keeps him sane; meditation plays a very important role in it as well. Djokovic shared in an interview how important it is for him, especially in recent times.

A couple of months ago, Djokovic sat for an interview at the Serbia Open where he talked about how when he is stressed, meditation is the only thing that can help him feel better. And it not only helps him on the court but in daily life as well. Djokovic shared, “Meditation is really important to me; it is one of the main points in my day-to-day, not only in training or in my tennis career.”
