British tennis was in safe hands when Andy Murray was in his prime days. However, the two-time Olympic gold medalist has been plagued with injuries over recent years. Following his comeback, his form has been up and down in recent tournaments. After Murray’s downfall, Kyle Edmund tried to revive British tennis for a while before eventually running out of steam. However, there is another British tennis star in men’s singles who has shown a meteoric rise since the onset of the 2021 season. He is Cameron Norrie.
Norrie has been in prime form since the turn of the 2021 season. He had a breakthrough season last year, winning the Indian Wells Masters title. The 26-year-old defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili in the summit clash of that tournament to win the biggest title of his career. Additionally, he won the ATP 250 title in Los Cabos, Mexico last season. Following a consistent run of form, the British tennis star is set to receive a massive boost in his ATP rankings.

Hurkacz, who is the defending champion at the Miami Open, will lose ranking points if he fails to defend his title. The Polish star had defeated Jannik Sinner last year to win the title in Miami. With Norrie bettering his last year’s performance in Miami, he will overtake Sinner and Hurkacz to enter the top-10 of the ATP rankings.
Norrie didn’t have an ideal start to the 2022 season. He had a disastrous outing at the ATP Cup, losing all the three matches he played at the tournament. Further, he suffered a shock first-round exit at the Australian Open, ignominiously losing in straight sets to the American, Sebastian Korda. Subsequently, he had a decent run in Rotterdam, making a quarterfinal appearance.

The 26-year-old won his first title of the season in Delray Beach. He had a memorable run in Acapulco before going down to Rafael Nadal in the final. At the Sunshine Double, Norrie had quarterfinal and Round-of-16 finishes in Indian Wells and Miami, respectively. He will look to maintain his good run of form in the upcoming clay-court season.
