Before getting on to the Italian tennis sensation, let’s have a look at the remarkable journey of Grigor Dimitrov this year. The Bulgarian tennis star seems to have rediscovered himself in 2024 and has been playing the best tennis of his career. It looks like Grigor Dimitrov will enter the Top 10 for the first time since 2018 on Monday.

He started his season by defeating Holger Rune in the finals of the Brisbane International. After that, he reached the third round of the AO and yet again made an appearance in the finals of a tournament in Marseille, France. Grigor Dimitrov made it to the SF in Rotterdam but couldn’t do much at the Indian Wells. However, in Miami, he has played some really good tennis on his way to reaching the first finals in this tournament. In the SF, he defeated the no.5, Alexander Zverev by 6-4,6(4)-7,6-4. Can he carryforward this momentum against the World no.3?

Jannik Sinner, on the other hand, started his season with two consecutive title triumphs at the AO and in Rotterdam. In the AO finals this year, he defeated Daniil Medvedev in a 5-set thriller. The 22YO Italian reached the SF of the Indian Wells just before stepping onto the court for the other ‘Sunshine Double’ event. Sinner absolutely outclassed the defending champion, Daniil Medvedev in his SF match in the 2024 Miami Open.

Jannik Sinner is now looking forward to clinching his third title of the year and we haven’t even reached the halfway mark yet of this year. Extraordinary stuff, isn’t it?

Sinner vs Dimitrov: Head-to-Head

Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov have previously met each other three times on the tour. They first met each other at the 2020 Italian Open, where the Bulgarian had the last laugh over the local boy. But the Italian came back in the next two encounters. Jannik Sinner currently leads the H2H with a 2-1 margin. Their last meeting was at the China Open in 2023. Who has the edge in this intriguing contest this time around?

Grigor Dimitrov’s latest victory over Alexander Zverev has made him move up to no.9 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings. The gap of 260 weeks between his Top 10 standings is the third largest in history. Dimitrov would now look forward to snatching more points from this tournament and clinching his second Masters 1000 crown. Will Jannik Sinner give him a free run? Well, you know the answer to this, right?

Prediction: Jannik Sinner to clinch his third title in just 3 months of the 2024 season

Jannik Sinner has made a stellar start to this season winning 21 out of his 22 matches. On the other hand, Grigor Dimitrov has rediscovered his form on the main tour in the last few months. He has won 19 of his last 23 matches this season.

The Italian’s extraordinary shot-making skills and his towering presence may come in handy against technically sounded Bulgarian. Dimitrov would look to use more of his powerful groundstrokes from the baseline at the net against Sinner. They had met each other at the R32 in last year’s Miami Open. The Italian had the last laugh that time around.
