The Miami Open ended with two great finals. Jannik Sinner and Danielle Collins thoroughly entertained the fans as they sat to watch new champions being crowned. Collins is on her way out of tennis, and Sinner has just begun his dangerous era. The tournament went on to create such a buzz that the attendance in the final broke the previous records of the tournament.

The record-breaking attendance comes after the fact that Grigor Dimitrov and Alexander Zverev shared their critique of the new stadium. Both enjoyed the previous venue much more, but their opinion was not shared by fans.

Putting the organizers in relief, the new venue of the Miami Open saw a huge attendance of 9000 more audience than earlier

The Miami Open is one of the most prestigious tournaments aside from the Grand Slams. Since it moved from Key Biscayne in 2019, the Miami Open has not recorded such numbers. In total, 395,683 tennis fans attended the tournament exceeding the previous record by 9k, which was set in the last year of Key Biscayne, 303k. With this number, the organizers can breathe a sigh of relief as their decision did not come back to haunt them. Moving to the new stadium came with a lot of nervousness as some players were not for it.

Dimitrov and Zverev are two players who played well in the 2024 Miami Open but missed playing in Key Biscayne. They shared their thoughts about the new stadium after particular matches.

Grigor Dimitrov and Alexander Zverev miss playing in Key Biscayne

The 26-year-old German advanced to the championship semifinals for the second time in his career but felt the crowd was more energetic in the previous venue. He stated that Hard Rock Stadium is one of the largest in the world, demonstrating the growth of the sport and that the additional space is a significant benefit. He still said, “But I loved Key Biscayne. I really did. I thought the atmosphere there was very special and very loud, very energetic. So obviously hopefully it’s going to be good memories for me in both sites. You know, trying to build them here still.”

Dimitrov, on the other hand, said, “I don’t know. Like, I had one of my biggest wins at Key Biscayne, so I’m super biased on that. Not saying much on that. You know, it is what it is.
