The competition levels at the Monte Carlo Masters are gaining more intensity as the tournament continues to move ahead with the winners. Moving down to the round of 16, Daniil Medvedev appeared in a showdown against Karen Khachanov, a match that the fans expected would be full of action.

Breaking something way beyond expectations, the fans experienced a heated-up moment as the referee speculatively gave a bad call against Daniil Medvedev. While the Russian tennis star was already behind his opponent as he lost one set with a 6-3 score, the tension turned into rage as he threw his racket to the sidelines.

While everyone had their eyes and ears focused on Medvedev because of his act of rage, he walked up to the chair umpire to slam him for the irrelevant call. “Who will take action?! The referee doesn’t need those glasses because he can’t see anyway,” Medvedev said, unleashing his frustration over the bad call.

As Medvedev lashed out at the line judge, the umpire Mohamed Lahyani quickly came forward to calm the situation, asking Medvedev to be quiet. “Daniil please don’t shout at him. He [line judge] can make a mistake as well,” the umpire said, covering up the bad call that led to Medvedev’s rage.

Leading to his act in the middle of the showdown, the Russian was also imposed with a point penalty, suppressing him down in numbers as well as in confidence. As a fate of the competition, Medvedev finally faced elimination from the tournament, with Khachanov securing a remarkable 6-3, 7-5 win. This marked another moment in Daniil Medvedev’s rage chronicles on the tennis court.

Daniil Medvedev angry at the whistles blowing

This wasn’t the first time when Daniil Medvedev threw his racket out of anger and indulged in an argument with the officials. Back at the US Open last year, the tennis star got rid of his racket as Grigor Dimitrov broke at 5-5.

As soon as he performed this act, the line judge blew the whistle, which even exaggerated his anger. “I’m not going to play when they whistle,” Medvedev said, lashing out at the alarms raised by the officials. “They’re stupid! If they don’t whistle, I’ll play!” he added.

The tennis star didn’t even leave the crowd unnoticed as he turned to their side and screamed, “I play guys, but shut your mouths, okay!” Although he finally calmed himself down to resume the match, the rage didn’t really get him any closer to success. Now that the Russian is out of the tournament, fans look forward to seeing him in the following ones.
