Tennis fans have been going through an extensive test of patience over Rafael Nadal‘s comeback. All of it began from the moment when fans started to expect his comeback in the scene from Brisbane. While the Spaniard made an early exit because of an injury at the season’s opening tournament, it not only raised concerns but shattered hopes as well.

Everyone kept waiting for an update on his recovery and what they received was just another announcement of withdrawal from Indian Wells. While fans still held hopes to see him back on the clay court season, it seems like they will have to keep waiting. Looking at Nadal’s recent practice sessions, experts noted the absence of serves.

This could be an indicator of the same back injury that stopped him from entering the tournament back in 2023. While the fans have somehow kept their hopes of seeing him back intact, it is likely that they will have to show more patience to welcome him back onto the scene.

Accepting the fact that despite taking time from competitions and regular practice, he isn’t coping well with performance, Nadal wrote of his Indian Wells entry, “It is with great sadness that I have to withdraw from this amazing tournament at Indian Wells.” As the Spaniard announced his exit from the tournament, he added, “I have been working hard and practising and you all know I took a test this weekend but I don’t find myself ready to play at the highest level at such an important event.”

Although there’s still no confirmation from either Nadal or his team about the plans for the upcoming Monte Carlo Masters, his current physical state still points to evident chances of stepping out. But in case he doesn’t, the remaining player from the original Big 3 might bag the title.

Will Rafael Nadal’s exit make it easier for Novak Djokovic to gain victory?

When it comes to the clay court tournaments, Novak Djokovic has always found it hard to overcome Rafael Nadal’s dominance. Back in 2013, when the Serb gained a victory over Nadal after several failed attempts, he couldn’t think of anything but thank him for the chance at victory.

“Well, he allowed me to win it once, and I’m very thrilled for that. He won it eight times in a row, so he’s been saying how much he loves and enjoys this tournament,” Djokovic said in a post-match conference back then, ending Nadal’s 46-match win streak.

As Rafa’s participation is still dicey while Djokovic has already started his preparations, there seem to be very low chances of the Spaniard walking in as a strong barrier that he once used to be.
