Next up for the Bulgarian tennis star is the current world number 3, Jannik Sinner. The 38YO Venezuelan, Daniel Vallverdú, is a former professional tennis player. He is also currently a member of Grigor Dimitrov’s coaching team. Recently Vallverdú spoke to renowned American sports journalist and author, Christopher Clarey. And here’s what he shared about Dimitrov’s tactics against the Top players.

Daniel Vallverdu said, “If you look at the stats, the matches Grigor has won against top 10 players, he’s been a little more aggressive than usual.” The Venezuelan coach believes, “He’s been utilizing his weapons, which are his serve and forehand and variety on the backhand side.” He believes Grigor Dimitrov has been finding that balance really well.

The world number 2 tennis player recently revealed that Grigor Dimitrov made him feel like a 13YO during their recent meeting at the QF of the Miami Open. What did Grigor Dimitrov say after defeating Carlos Alcaraz? “I think overall to win against him you have to play at your best,” said Dimitrov.

He went on to add that he came into the match with a very focused approach and a clear idea about what he needed to do to overcome this Spanish hurdle. Grigor Dimitrov believes, “Sometimes simplicity is genius.” Dimitrov looked in good touch against Zverev as well.

After defeating the German tennis star, Alexander Zverev, Dimitrov said, “For me what’s better, above all that, is I have been able to put those matches back to back. I think the consistency of beating top players is way bigger a success than anything else. If you do that, you get the ranking.

He stressed the importance of having discipline backed by hard work, dedication, and little adjustments on a constant basis, which can do wonders in one’s career. Grigor Dimitrov shared his journey over the last 12 months where he had to face defeat in several matches but he kept the belief in himself and worked harder and harder to reach where he is today.
