Swiss Maestro Roger Federer, who is eyeing to make a comeback later this year on the ATP tour, recently announced his donation for children in Ukraine. The Roger Federer foundation aims to provide education to children in need. And has teamed up with War Child Holland, an independent NGO, for the same.

Roger Federer pledges to provide aid to the education of Ukrainian children

Federer took to Twitter to share the information as he wrote, “My family and I are horrified seeing pictures from Ukraine and heartbroken for the innocent people who have been terrible affected. We stand for peace.”

The 20-time Grand Slam champion later announced the donation of $500,000 to provide education access to the Ukrainian children who suffered.

We will provide assistance to children from Ukraine who need care, about 6 million Ukrainian children are currently out of school and we know it’s a very critical time to provide access to education and would like to support them to deal with this extremely traumatic experience.

The donation will take place through the Roger Federer foundation alongside War Child Holland. After Andy Murray vowed to donate his prize money to the kids in need, it’s the Swiss star who came out to contribute from his end.

War Child Holland also reacted to Federer’s message and commented, “Thank you, @rogerfederer for supporting children affected by war. We are looking forward to working together to support children through our #Ukraine response.

Federer likely to make a comeback during the US hard-court season

Recently, ex-tennis player Sergiy Stakhovsky also informed the world about Federer’s response to his message of support. Along with several Ukrainian tennis players who are contributing in their own way; top players like Andy Murray and Roger Federer have taken up the responsibility of educating children in Ukraine.

Coming to tennis, the former world no.1 is looking to make a comeback during the US hard-court season. From his words, it’s evident that his return to tennis will take a long time and fans can only wait for his further announcement.

Initially, tennis world expected the Swiss star to be back in action for the grass court season. But if his latest statement is anything to go by, one might not see Federer on grass this year.
