Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal is busy competing in the Acapulco event in Mexico. After sailing through in his initial matches, the Spaniard has got himself placed in the semifinal of the tournament.
However, Nadal was dealt with some awkwardness due to the conditions out there. There came a point due to the humidity, Rafa’s shorts got wet. It got so much out of control that after a point he could not keep a ball in his pocket which is usually used for the second serve.

Rafael Nadal overcame obstacles in his way
Due to that, Nadal could not compete as per his wishes, and after winning the opening set with ease, that was not the case in the second set. However, for the experienced Spaniard, it would be just a matter of time before the 21-time champion adjusts.
Reflecting on these issues, Nadal stated, “The truth is my shorts were very wet and when I realized it I started serving without the ball in my pocket. But until that point, I had been dampening the ball too much. That made my ball take less effect, I wasn’t being able to impact in the way I did in the first set.”

Rafa felt as if he was on an ice field
It did not stop there are Nadal faced issues with his footwear too. He blamed himself for only carrying one pair of shoes. As mentioned before, the humidity was quite high, and Rafa was not prepared for it. He even compared the situation of playing on an ice field.

The 35-year-old added, “And I lost the position on the court, I backed down. Then I had the issue with the shoes, my mistake for not bringing another pair in such a humid place. I suffered, it was like playing on an ice field.”

Next up for the Spaniard is none other than the new World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev. They will be facing off on Friday and is a repeat of the Australian Open 2022 final. We wish both players the best of luck of what looks like will be a cracker of a match.
