Nick Kyrgios has been away from the tennis circuit for quite some time now. Injuries have taken a toll on him throughout the season as the Australian tennis star has participated in just one tournament in 2023, the ATP 250 Boss Open in Stuttgart, Germany. Despite being away from the court, the former Wimbledon finalist is not away from the news. Recently, he was involved in a podcast show where even Mike Tyson was present.

Nick Kyrgios talks about Dennis Rodman comparisons

The 28-year-old is a big NBA fan and is often seen attending Celtics games of which he is a die-hard fan. Additionally, he is also a big fan of Dennis Rodman, and is even called as ‘Dennis Rodman of tennis.’ During the podcast, the Australian star opened up about being referenced to the NBA legend in tennis.

Talking about it on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast, Kyrgios said, “I reckon it’s cool, yeah. Like, I kind of feel like my athletes that I like are Allen Iverson, you know, Dennis Rodman, guys like that who kind of did it their way. I don’t mind that Dennis Rodman. I like that.”

Kyrgios has taken huge inspiration from the NBA legend and has often spoken about following his ideals.

Last year too, he revealed how he felt about being referenced by Rodman’s name in tennis.

Following his exploits at Wimbledon last year where he reached the final, the Australian star said that he wanted to be remembered as the ‘Denis Rodman of tennis.’ Further, he stated, “When I first think of Rodman, I think of someone that is completely comfortable in his own skin, who played the game he wanted and didn’t really care what others thought. He’s had some pretty good misso’s [Australian slang term for girlfriends or Mrs] as well.”
