The GOAT debate of tennis will likely never end. The current argument rebounds amongst Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the ATP. While fans continue to debate with immense passion, several tennis players also give their pick for it. Nick Kyrgios is someone who is quite open about his opinions on the internet. Recently, the Aussie confidently stated that Federer was the undeniable GOAT of tennis.

While he chose Federer recently, he believed that it is due to his playstyle. While choosing the Swiss Maestro a while back, he sidelined other ATP legends. He reasoned that American legends such as Pete Sampras and John McEnroe cannot play great today, unlike Michael Jordan, who can still perform above the rest.

Kyrgios did not have to think for a long period of time as he said, “GOAT,” effectively snubbing the other two of the big three. When asked if he meant the greatest of all time, Kyrgios stated, “Yes. You’ll never find anyone else who plays like him. So pure, so natural, the way he plays the game… yeah, pure.

This is not the first time Kyrgios has snubbed other legends in favor of the Swiss Maestro. However, the last time he discussed it, he seemed unsure of his choice at putting Federer on top.

No love for American legends

Kyrgios was featured on the Impaulsive podcast in early February. The Aussie player was also asked about who his pick for the GOAT was. He was quick to say, Roger Federer, likening him to Michael Jordan. According to Nine.com, when talking about statistics, he put Djokovic above the rest.

However, Kyrgios did not believe that Sampras, McEnroe and Andre Agassi would be able to win with the same intensity today unlike Jordan, who can still run through all the competition on the court.
