Some of the most revered and accomplished names in the tennis community get the prestigious opportunity to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The list of such veterans also includes Boris Becker, who put down his racket in 1999 after clinching every possible title on the men’s circuit. However, things changed drastically for the former Wimbledon champion after he was accused of tax evasion in 2002.

The German tennis legend was enjoying his off-court endeavors with his wife in Miami when the officials came knocking on their door. While reminiscing about the dramatic incident, the former tennis ace recently revealed how the authorities seized some of his valuable and private belongings, including his wife’s nude picture.

The Tennis Hall of Famer’s bitter-sweet journey has been perfectly portrayed in the recently released Apple TV documentary. In his docuseries, Boris Becker has shed light on his tax evasion accusations in 2002, due to which he also faced imprisonment in England. It was early morning when the German tennis legend got a call from his lawyer saying the police with the tax authorities are going to come knocking at his door.

It came out of the blue as the former tennis ace didn’t expect the government officials to come into his house for those accusations. While detailing that incident, the 6-time singles Grand Slam champion revealed how the authorities seized some of his most valuable belongings. It also included his former wife, Barbara Becker’s intimate pictures taken during her pregnancy.

He said, “There is jewelry, there are many documents, there are nude pictures from my pregnant wife. Yeah, just be aware of the pictures. They took everything, and the pictures haven’t been returned since.”

The former tennis player’s then-wife has also commented how she was shocked when the tax authorities broke into their house. Barbara said that they treated the tennis veteran like a criminal after those allegations made the headlines.

She added, “There’s nothing we could do. And it came out of the blue and we felt like it was like a complete intrusion, invasion.”

Barbara said that Becker was quite confused and surprised after the government tried to seize his assets. They accused him of having an unsanctioned residence in Munich, while the Tennis Hall of Famer was officially residing in Monaco.
