After a lackluster US Open campaign, Hubert Hurkacz made amends at the recently concluded Shanghai Masters. The Polish tennis star secured the Masters 1000 tournament crown and extended his ATP Tour singles titles tally to 7. But was hardly the only cause of the buzz around the Pole.

During the outdoor hard court event in Shanghai, the 26-year-old prevailed in some high-profile matches against the likes of Andrey Rublev and Sebastian Korda. But in addition to his incredible on-court displays, the current world No. 11 garnered a lot of attention due to a bizarre ‘kiss’ act. Reacting to the same, a flurry of fans recently took to social media to drop their wild opinions on ‘one of the funniest’ moments involving Hurkacz.

In a three-set blockbuster match,  6-3, 3-6, 7-6, the Pole defeated the 5th seed Russian, Andrey Rublev to clinch the Shanghai Masters title. Hurkacz was later spotted kissing his trophy during the post-match ceremony. However, the fans took note of something peculiar that had their imaginations run wild on Twitter.

While sharing pictures of the 26-year-old kissing – or rather, not kissing – his ATP titles, one fan tweeted, “Hubi holding trophies against his mouth but refusing to actually kiss them is literally one of the funniest things ever lol helppppp”.

Some other fans also flocked to the comments section with a user asserting that the Pole didn’t want to give his first kiss to his trophy. She said, “Maybe he doesn’t want give his first kiss to some tennis trophy 😭”

A fan also took a brutal jab at the newly crowned Shanghai Masters champion while labeling his act, “staged and stupid”. He commented, “Well, it’s had it’s day really. Always staged and looks pretty stupid tbf. Along with biting – never understood that one anyway”
