Nick Kyrgios provided the Australian crowd more joy after winning the Australian Open 2022 men’s doubles title. The celebrations have been on the house for the Australian ever since. Even though the Australian won the title, it was the fans that got an opportunity to become a part of this chapter of history.

Today, 1st February, the NFT trading website sweet.io released Nick Kyrgios NFTs for the fans. On the release of these NFTs, Kyrgios said, I’m all about the fans and the fan experience so this feels like another great way to connect. NFTs are the future of collectibles and I always want to be on the cutting edge and to advance our sport.”

Expressing his feeling for the Australian Open, Kyrgios said, “It’s been an amazing tournament full of memorable moments.”

NFTs released after Kyrgios’ historic win 

Sweet.io released a set of Nick Kyrgios NFTs. The current lot has 12 tokens up for sale. Out of these 12, five of these tokens are limited-edition tokens with just 22 tokens up for purchase for each of these. These five are, Bring the Heat, Fly Higher, Let’s Dance, LFG, and Tongue Time. These 5 collections are up for a price of $399.

Kyrgios entered the men’s doubles draw as a wildcard with fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis. Both the players, losing early in the singles draw, entered the doubles draw considering this as their last opportunity to win.

In the first round the two-faced the pair of Alex Bolte-James Mccabe, winning the match in straight sets. Having a confidence boost, the two went on to beat the top-seeded pair of Nikola Mektic-Mate Pavic.

Winning the first two rounds with ease, the duo next faced the 15th seed pair of Ariel Behar-Gonzalo Escobar, beating them in three sets. Cruising through the initial rounds, the Australian pair faced the 6th seeded pair of Tim Puetz-Michael Venus, beating them to enter the final 4. In the semi-finals, Kyrgios-Kokkinakis beat the 3rd seeded pair of Marcel Granollers-Horacio Zeballos.

The duo entered the finals dropping just 2 sets. With nothing to lose, the two faced no difficulty in beating the pair of Matthew Ebden-Max Purcell and winning the Australian Open 2022 men’s doubles title. 

With the win, the two have reached their career-high rankings in doubles. Kyrgios is now ranked 40, whereas Kokkinakis is now number 46 in the rankings.
