In the world of tennis, there have been some instances that bring out the true raw emotions of a player. Nick Kyrgios, who is no stranger to these moments has found himself in the middle of certain acts that have led him to serious consequences. One such instance dates back to the US Open in 2022 where the Australian player found himself in the middle of emotions and immense pressure which even resulted in him breaking his racket.

However, amidst this, in a recent interview, Kyrgios got approval from show host Jennifer Hudson as she and the Australian player talked about the emotions that took a toll on him in New York back then.

In a recent interview with Jennifer Hudson, Nick Kyrgios revealed the emotional roller coaster behind his notorious racket-smashing incident during the US Open 2022 quarterfinals. Disappointed after a long 4.5-hour match that resulted in a defeat, Kyrgios unleashed his frustrations at 2:00 a.m. and smashed his rackets. This loss also marked the end of a long seven-month stint away from home.

Talking ahead in the interview, Kyrgios acknowledged the pressure and stakes that are involved in professional tennis. Jennifer Hudson was quick to react to the scenario and gave her approval while suggesting that she understood what Kyrgios was trying to convey.

“I’m a very different person by the way I love it but no I just uh, I guess that was at 2:00 a.m. you know I lost in the quarterfinals with the US Open in New York and it was just 4 and a half hours loss, just super frustrated and that was my last match before flying home 7 months on the road from Australia so yeah that was just letting it all out I guess,” said Kyrgios in the interview.

“it’s hard and you work hard for your stuff right yeah definitely um you know there’s a lot of money on the line and you know it’s just I just take pride in my work and it wasn’t a very good l I probably should have won that match so yeah I was just frustrated,” he further continued.

Thus, amidst the tense scene in New York, Nick Kyrgios had a sudden outbreak of frustration which further resulted in breaking the rackets. This act was further acknowledged by Jennifer Hudson who came ahead and supported him.

However, while his act did get sympathy from the show host, it seems like the authorities were in no mood to leave the 28-year-old Australian player alone.

A $14,000 fine was imposed on Nick after his racket-breaking incident

After his incident went viral where he smashed 2 rackets in the US Open, the authorities came ahead and lashed a huge fine on him. A $14,000 fine, which was the largest at the tournament last year was imposed on him. This fine also brought his total to a massive $32,500 in five total instances.

The fine amount was deducted from the total earnings that he made in New York. While talking about this incident back then, he suggested that it was either all in or nothing and he failed to shine at the greatest stage. “All people remember at a grand slam is whether you win or you lose,” he said. “Just feel like it was either winning it all or nothing at all, to be honest. I feel like I’ve just failed at this event right now.”

Thus, his act had some serious consequences that the Australian player had to go through. While he wished to bring out his best game in Australia, he could not manage to make it past the quarters which became a problematic thing for him.
