Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has praised countryman Rafael Nadal, saying he has “no more adjectives” to describe the sensational victory at Roland Garros. Nadal won his 14th Roland Garros title on Sunday beating Casper Ruud in the final.

Guardiola, who won the Premier League with Manchester City this season, has managed the likes of FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the past.

Guardiola is full of praise for Rafael Nadal

The former Champions League winner spoke about the achievement as one of the greatest in sport history. In an interview, Guardiola said, “It seems impossible, and according to him in conditions of many physical difficulties due to the problems he has had.

“There are no more adjectives to describe Rafa’s career and successes. It seemed that after winning the ninth or 10th he was already (done). He was getting older. But he doesn’t stop. And I have the impression that if his body can withstand the problems with his foot, he will continue to win,” he added at the Puma Legends Trophy.

Nadal will decide whether to participate at the Wimbledon Championships later this month after struggling his way through victory in Paris with a foot injury.

Nadal was absent from the second half of 2021 after undergoing treatment for a foot injury. Since his return in January this year, he has been on a staggering run. The 36-year-old has now won the first two Slams of the year, taking his tally to a record-breaking 22.

Additionally, Nadal was also out for two months after a stress fracture in the rib. Despite these injury issues, Nadal has gone on to do the unthinkable at Roland Garros. With this win, he has surely cemented his legacy as the undisputed “King of Clay.”
