The 38-year-old American tennis player who headlined last year’s retirement news will now be a part of this year’s Indian Wells tournament, but this time not as a player but as a commentator.

Recently, Randy Walker took to his Twitter account to share news regarding how the Tennis Channel, for their Indian Wells commentator, will have the recently retired American players, John Isner and CoCo Vandewegh, as a part of their on-air team in California throughout the tournament.

Looking into this news, tennis fans were not happy with the 38-year-old being picked as a commentator, for the tennis channel. A lot of tennis fans share their reactions in the comment section of the post, One fan highlighted how she has no problem with Vandewegh, as she has already done quite a good job at the tennis channel, but at the same time, she highlighted how she doesn’t want to hear any conspiracy theories, from Isner. Not only that, she even listed him as a ‘human paperweight’ highlighting his contribution to tennis.

On the other hand, another fan pointed out that the tennis channel did not do any research, to take care of their viewers’ choices regarding the commentators.

Moreover, a fan clearly stated that he doesn’t want the 38-year-old American on the commentator’s team.

Another fan agreed with his take, adding more fuel to the fire.

While a tennis fan also shared an expression regarding the same and wrote, “Barf puke,” 

Not only that but while tennis fans were not quite comfortable with this decision, the former world number eight-ranked tennis player shared his thoughts on becoming a part of the commentator’s team.

Isner’s thoughts on getting a new tennis role

In a recent conversation after sharing this great news of entering the Indian Wells the other way, Isner talked about how the tournament has always been the most exciting time of the year in America. He stated, “It’s always one of the most exciting times of the year when the entire tennis world comes to America in March for the BNP Paribas Open. I’m looking forward to interacting with the Tennis Channel team and our viewers during the tournament.” 

Not only that, the American tennis player, who has won 16 ATP titles and finished the tennis season as a top-ranked American tennis player, eight times throughout his career, shared his enthusiasm for getting ready to interact with the commentator scene and even the viewers during the event.
