However, earlier the tennis player said that the six-digit paycheck is the reason behind his decision to flip. Lleyton Hewitt, who is the team captain, and his fellow countryman, Alex de Minaur, tried to pursue him but had failed attempts. Once Kyrgios have decided on a thing, he is never going back. However, amid all this chaos, the 27-year-old shares more details adding to his decision. 

Kyrgios had a successful tennis season. This year, he reached his first Grand Slam finals match against Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon.

Nick Kyrgios adds more reason for choosing Diriyah Cup

Kyrgios had previously only discussed how the remuneration for the Saudi Arabia exhibition tour is different from the paycheck for the Davis Cup. The tennis player, however, has expanded on his reasons for going to Saudi Arabia rather than supporting his country in his statement.

He said, “I’ll easily take time with my family and my girlfriend and enjoy experiences around the world and earn that type of money rather than play a week away in something where I wouldn’t be able to be with my girlfriend and I’m not getting paid that well.“
