It was a time when the 20-time Grand Slam champion giggled with his whole heart along with another tennis legend, John McEnroe.

Roger Federer has been a charm on the tennis courts. But the former world number played his last Australian Open 2022 almost 2 years back. And since then, the tennis player was struggling continuously with injuries which eventually led to his retirement in 2022 during the Laver Cup.

Yes, you heard it right. A player whose name is Tennys and plays tennis. And somehow the 20-time Grand Slam champion and the seven-time Grand Slam champion thought this was funny. An on-court conversation from the Australian Open 2022, before the quarter-finals, is doing rounds on Twitter and is quite amusing. In the video, the American tennis legend is seen interviewing the Swiss Maestro before he faces American Tennys Sandgren. 

In the interview, the tennis legend informed the former world number one about who he is gonna play next with a funny introduction. McEnroe said, “Finally, Roger, your next match is against a guy, I think he has got the greatest name for tennis in tennis history. I don’t know why his parents named him Tennys but god bless him.”

To that, the 20 times Grand Slam champion tried to keep his humor limited but he just can’t hold himself back. Federer added, “He was not going to be a baseball player that’s for sure with that name. It’s Unreal actually. No, I am looking forward to play against him. I’ve never played against Tennys. And I have played a lot of tennis in my life, but never against the Tennys. Oh, man…”

Back in 2020, the former world number one was struggling with a lot of injuries and speculations about his retirement were all over the tennis world. The seven-time Grand Slam champion made a strange critical administration regarding his comeback on the tennis court. The former American tennis player believed that after the comeback, the tennis player might not be his own former self. But will be a shadow of what he was in the past.
