It was not the dream ending that Roger Federer had hoped for, when he had decided to make Laver Cup his last tour before retiring. Team World defeated Team Europe and Federer’s dream could not be fulfilled. Federer shared a picture of himself hugging his teammate and arch-rival, Novak Djokovic. Furthermore, he expressed his disappointment over not winning the cup.

But all said and done, Roger Federer’s farewell was and will be an event that generations to come will always remember. Bidding farewell to the tennis legend proved to be difficult for his rivals too.

Dream ending of Roger Federer at the Laver Cup remains unfulfilled

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal became the dream team of doubles at the Laver Cup this year. Playing his final match alongside Rafael Nadal was Federer’s dream. However, they could not defeat the astounding gameplay of Frances Tiafoe, and Jack Sock, who eventually won the doubles match. Roger Federer wanted to win the Laver Cup as a team which, unfortunately, did not happen.

He took to his Instagram story to share a heartwarming picture shared by Novak Djokovic of the two players hugging each other. He stated, “Not the ending we all wanted. Thanks for a great week!”

Even if Federer could not win with his team, we will always remember the 2022 Laver Cup, as his farewell. The farewell broke down legendary players like Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, and both the teams hailed the glorious career of the player. Though full of cheers, it was a teary farewell.

Following Team World’s doubles victory, Team World’s Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated the Serbian tennis legend, Novak Djokovic, in straight sets. In the end, Frances Tiafoe once again blew people’s minds by defeating none other than Stefanos Tsitsipas and leading Team World to victory.
