The 2023 season, as it came to an end, proved to be majorly about the Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic. While the star maintained his position as the world No.1 for more than 400 weeks, there were rarely any opponents who gave him tough competition. Among the rare ones, Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner appeared as a strong force, raising discussions that still continue to trend.

The way Novak Djokovic moved ahead sweeping every other opponent through his journey, made everyone believe that he was an unstoppable force. Bringing a pause to that immense form, young star Jannik Sinner treated him with a defeat at the group stage of the ATP Finals and in the Davis Cup. Now, Italian former tennis player Adriano Pannata recently started a discussion that made the Serbian fans switch to defense mode.

Tennis legend Novak Djokovic has been presenting a strong force as he made it to the 7th ATP Finals victory of his career. During the journey, the legend came across Jannik Sinner, who defeated the Serbinator when he was in an invincible form. This defeat made several highlights and fans from both the sides wished for a rematch. To their entertainment, both the forces stood against each other in the final match, where Djokovic took the lead and lifted the trophy.

The rivalry continued as Sinner ended Nole’s dreams by bringing in another defeat for him at the Davis Cup. Over this, former Italian tennis star presented a statement that was totally in support of the young Italian talent. Pannata said, “If Sinner were to defeat Djokovic two or three more times in 2024, he would turn into the nightmare of the Belgrade champion, pushing him towards retirement.”

As soon as the statement started to catch the attention of the Serbinator’s fans, they came up with defensive comments to end the debate. A fan, pointing to the recent Davis Cup victory and calling it delusional, said, “Sure. If clinging to the RR and DC wins will feed his delusion…..so be it.”

Another fan, mentioning the difference between facing Djokovic in a Grand Slam final vs facing him in three-setter, said, “Funny how people still think beating Novak at the slams is as simple as beating him in a 3 setter.”

Another fan, presenting a direct slam to Sinner over the ATP Finals defeat, said, Novak destroyed him infront of his home crowd in the biggest final of his career ….. I think that the goat, will send the Italian kid to the retirement.”

The trail of comments continued as fans came with their different moods to defend their favorite tennis star. Out of them, a fan, mentioning the innate quality of the Serbinator, said, “Djokovic evolves man he’s never gonna lose to Sinner twice next year.

Another fan, questioning the acceptance of the finals match at the ATP’s year-end tour, commented, “We just pretending the ATP Finals didn’t happen now?”

The debate in the comment section continued as fans kept on presenting facts and mentioning incidents to remind the former Italian star about Djokovic’s excellence and strong grip on the court. However, Djokovic’s words on Sinner came out to be in a completely different tone.

“He barely missed the ball the entire match, so you can only say congrats and hats down for the performance like that,” Djokovic said. While the former Italian star ignited discussions among both sides that carry different perspectives, fans look forward to the upcoming season that will determine the reality as both of them will probably stand against each other again.
