However, one year ago, this looked like a distant dream for Djokovic when he was banned by the US Open and Australian Open because of his vaccination status during COVID-19. The irony is not just in the fact that he eventually both the majors this year, but also in the audience.

The US Open audience boasted of prominent celebrities like Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Matthew McConaughey, and Leonardo Di Caprio, amongst others. One of them was none other than Bill Gates, who avidly worked during the pandemic to contain it. Fans now have found the irony as Gates seemingly enjoyed the US Open finals.

Novak Djokovic gave the performance of his lifetime as he persevered against Daniil Medvedev to clinch the victory at the US Open. A delight for the tennis enthusiasts, fans spotted billionaire Bill Gates enjoying the finals too.

This drew their attention to the enormous contribution Gates made during the COVID-19. Watching Djokovic play who stuck to his principles and even missed last year’s edition made fans take a shot at the billionaire.

One fan stated, “That’s a hard pill for Billy to swallow.” Another one could not help but be amused by the whole situation.

Yet another fan commented, “Fate loves irony.”

One fan looked at how Djokovic’s ban affected his career, but he eventually found his place on the court, and Gates watching him win.

One fan even commented on how disappointed Gates’ expressions looked during the match.

Djokovic faced a ban from both the Australian Open and US Open last year, leading him to miss on two major opportunities. However, this year, he made sure to make a smashing comeback by winning the majors at both destinations.

On the other hand, Bill Gates heavily criticized the tennis star for his vaccination stance.

Novak Djokovic refused to get vaccinated back in the time when COVID-19 was wreaking havoc. However, the Serbian star quickly clarified on why he chose not to get vaccinated. Djokovic clearly stated that he was not against vaccination, but wanted to have the freedom of deciding what an individual puts in the body. Djoker further commented, “How are we expecting that (the vaccine) to solve our problem when this coronavirus is mutating regularly from what I understand?”

This did not sit well with the billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates. He took a subtle dig at the 36-year-old by saying, “If they’re an insipational and trusted person, you know, then, they’re spreading that, it just makes it tougher to get the vaccination levels that we really need. So, I admire him in a lot of ways, but I wish his views on vaccine weren’t that way.”

Thus, when Gates was spotted at the Finals, it was a topic of debate among fans whether Djoker had managed to win over the business mogul with his impressive display of classy tennis.
