21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has been in the headlines quite a lot regarding his participation at the US Open this year. Due to his non vaccination, the US Government is unable to allow him to take part in the US Open, or any other tournaments in the country.

Meanwhile, the draw for the Cincinnati Masters is nearing, and before that, the Serb announced a sad yet predictable news to his fans, at the very last minute.

Novak Djokovic is officially out of the Cincinnati Masters 2022

Before the draw of the Cincinnati Masters, Djokovic officially announced his withdrawal from the tournament. Notably, the tournament will start next week. After this announcement, the chances of his participation at the US Open are getting slimmer.

It is worth noting that Djokovic won the tournament 2 times in his career and the last time he won it was back in 2020. Earlier, Djokovic was there on the player’s list alongside other top-ranked players like Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and others.

Meanwhile, after Djokovic’s withdrawal, American tennis star Brandon Nakashima will move straight into the main draw. Hence a wild card will be vacant, which will most probably go to Andy Murray.

Djokovic is still not losing hope of playing at the US Open 2022

Previously, Djokovic shared a video on his Instagram where he was practicing hard on the tennis court. In the caption, he thanked all his fans for supporting him as he is still hoping to play the US Open.

In another video, Djokovic was practicing boxing along with various MMA techniques. Meanwhile, plenty of current and former players showed support for the Serbian as they want the US Open to allow Djokovic to play at the tournament.

Despite all that, Djokovic is still unlikely to feature at Flushing Meadows as he is yet to take the vaccine and the US government has yet to make any rule change regarding outsiders traveling to the United States.
