Mark Petchy thinks that the ‘Big Three’ is the forever constant of the Tennis world

In a recent podcast, Petchy spoke about how the unbelievably amazing careers of Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer brought unparalleled competition for the young tennis stars. This is because these top three tennis legends have set a benchmark, which is truly hard for any tennis prodigy. However, if the players do not reach that line, they are not considered to be enough great.

In Petchy’s own words- “It’s not easy, no matter how great you are. It’s not easy. We look at the guys at the top, Mitch, you know, we look at Novak and you look at Rafa and you look at Roger and you kind of measure everybody else’s career, which are always going to look suboptimal in that situation.”

He further commented- “The longevity of the Big Three has allowed Medvedev and others to develop rivalries with them, That gives the young guys more authenticity in people’s eyes. I think the future is brighter now than I might have a few years ago.”

Petchy has spoken about how some legends are truly irreplaceable no matter how much fans try to find a substitute person. This is the same for tennis, but fans won’t understand. Petchy said- “Tiger is still the guy people name when they talk about golf,” says Golfweek senior writer David Dusek. “It was unrealistic to think that the sport could replace him, just like it was impossible for the NBA to replace Michael Jordan.”
