Novak Djokovic is ready to give his all against the rising generation of the ATP circuit. In last year’s year-end championship, he might face Gen-Z stars like Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Holger Rune. But before going into the circle, the 36-year-old Serbian tennis player opened up about carrying a general sportsmanship spirit against Rune, who has recently joined hands with the Serb’s former coach Boris Becker.

Although Becker’s new journey with Rune has caused Djokovic to experience a range of emotions, things are about to change. Even though the Serbian tennis player has previously expressed that he might be upset by his former coach standing in his opponent’s box, he recently shared another statement against the Dane.

Novak Djokovic doesn’t want to be rude to Holger Rune

Holger Rune is one of the young rivals Djokovic has on the ATP circuit. Both of them might face each other once again in the ATP Finals after having a recent face-off at the Paris Masters. But before the tournament, the 24-time Grand Slam champion made a mocking statement in a pre-tournament press conference regarding not talking poorly about his 20-year-old opponent.

Acording to Ubitennis, he said, “I love to compete, and every time I try to show my highest level, the motivation is still there and that’s all you need to continue traveling and training. Boris is a great coach and will do very well with Holger. I won’t speak ill of him because he’s here to listen… (smiling, ed).”

The Serb revealed how his opponents motivate him to give his best. Further, he also praised the 55-year-old German tennis coach and talked about how he can help the Danish tennis player in the best way possible. Nevertheless, this is not the first time the world number one has talked about his ex-coach getting professionally along with Rune.

Djokovic revealed his true feelings for the Becker-Rune partnership

The 36-year-old tennis player expressed her excitement to see Becker return to the arena as a coach during a candidate interview held prior to the Paris Masters. He also conceded that it might not be comfortable for people to watch him from the other side of the court. He said, “It’s not gonna be nice and comfortable for me to have him in the opposite box if I play Holger.”

The Djoker expressed his possible discomfort at seeing the six-time Grand Slam champion and his once-coach in his opposite coaching box if he ever faced Rune on the tennis court. While the Serbian shares a great relationship with the German tennis legend and his family, he doesn’t want to get on the wrong foot and maintain his rivalry with the 20-year-old in a different way, while at the same time managing his equation with Becker separately.
