Novak Djokovic hits the perfect return

The Serb was up against Carlos Alcaraz at the Riyadh Tennis Season Cup. While Djokovic won the opening set, Alcaraz came back strongly to win the next two sets to win the match. However, during the match, an interesting scene occurred that caught everyone’s eye.

Alcaraz was serving in the fourth game, being three breakpoints down. On this occasion, Djokovic hit a sumptuous forehand return that went past Alcaraz. It left the Spaniard stranded and he was left wondering what had happened. After Djokovic hit the return, he did some action through his hand that suggested that the shot was too hot to handle.

It was a perfect start for Djokovic in the first match of the 2024 season, albeit an exhibition event. However, Alcaraz came back strongly to level the match 1-1. In the final set, Alcaraz took the lead early which proved to be enough as he powered past Djokovic in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Djokovic has been drawing much attention over the recent past owing to his exploits this season. Earlier this month, legendary tennis coach, Rick Macci, had the perfect comparison between the trio of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic.

The former coach of Serena Williams, Macci has been actively involved in the tennis world. He often speaks about the various happenings in the sport. During one such occasion, he spoke highly about Djokovic.

Macci said, “Roger made the game look like BALLET. Rafa made the game look like BOXING. Novak makes the game look like a BOXING and BALLET.”
