World number one, Novak Djokovic, is about to face Matteo Berrettini for the third time at majors this year at the on-going US Open. Nole will face stiff competition from next-gen players as they try and stop him from achieving the calendar grand slam.

So far in the US Open, the Serbian tennis star faced the likes of Kei Nishikori, Holger Rune, and Jenson Brooksby, on his way the last eight. Djokovic won all these matchups in four sets and it’s evident that he is yet to reach his best on Arthur Ashe stadium.

For those who have been watching Novak Djokovic play over the years, his success rate is not directly related to his form. There have been numerous instances, especially in grand slams, where Djokovic displayed relentless grit to notch up victories against peers Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

His long-time rival Roger Federer did it eight times in his two-decade long career. Rafael Nadal, who decided to rest for the remainder of the season, won more than 20 matches in slams for a total of seven times in his career.

Irrespective of how the Big-3 perform at tournaments on the ATP tour besides the slams, their consistent record at majors will take forever to beat by the next generation of players that follow them.

Djokovic looks set to win the US Open and become the first men’s player to win 21 major titles in the Open Era. Federer and Nadal will look to return to action next year. However, Djokovic in his current form will take some stopping.
